Truck accident in Nashville causes pedestrian fatality

A tractor trailer accident on October 30^th, in Nashville, Tennessee caused a pedestrian fatality, and sent a driver to the hospital. How does a truck hit a pedestrian? The truck’s headlights (if properly adjusted) should show the road ahead for 200’.

In this Nashville truck accident case, a 57-year-old man was walking in the left lane of the road when he was struck and killed by an oncoming truck.

We don’t know much about the driver or deceased pedestrian at this point, but it’s obvious that the truck driver didn’t see the pedestrian until it was too late to avoid the accident. Did the pedestrian expect the truck to move over slightly? Was the pedestrian impaired? We tend to blame the victim in our society, and perhaps the dead person here has some responsibility, but do they bear total responsibility?

Our sympathy to both families. Losing a loved one is hard to describe, and being responsible (even a little ) for the death of another is difficult pill to swallow. No one wins here, but we all lose unless we can find a way to see that this doesn’t happen again.

Reports show that drivers whom are slightly distracted are 50% more likely to cause a fatal accident.

Red Truck Leaves Scene of Clarksville, Tennessee Collision

On October 30^th, a Clarksville car accident occurred when a driver lost control of his car after trying to avoid a red truck that was veering into his lane.
While the red truck went on, the other driver skidded into a parking lot, crashing into two parked cars.

The impact was substantial; the driver was partially thrown from his truck causing serious injury. The driver was transported to Vanderbilt hospital. Clarksville Officials are still looking for the red truck that caused the accident.

Tennessee drivers who are involved in a collision should never leave the scene until an officer has gotten their information and any injured drivers or passengers are cared for. East Tennessee fatal crash kills 4 people

An east Tennessee car crash involving a tractor trailer has left 4 people dead including two children and two adults, one who was pregnant. The accident happened on Tennessee Highway 68, and county road 292.

The Tennessee Department of Safety is including the woman’s unborn baby as a victim in the case. The driver of the big rig escaped injury even after the cab of his truck caught fire, but all of the people in the car that was hit, were killed.
Our condolences to the family and loved ones for this terrible tragedy.

The facts we have are scant – and certainly trucks are entitled to be on the roadway, but what happened here? Truck drivers are supposed to be professional drivers, and they are legally required to limit their driving time so they can be alert. That’s a rule that is often violated. Was that rule violated here? Was the car not visible from any of the truck’s mirrors? Did the driver look?
It can be scary out there. If you are around large trucks, don’t assume they are paying attention (as they should be) or using their mirrors (as they should be).

Anderson County Tanker Accident

A tractor trailer gas tanker carrying around 7400 gallons of diesel fuel crashed on Tuesday, August 9 in the early morning when the driver ran into a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire who was stopped on the left side of the road after blowing a tire, according to WBIR Knoxville.

The wreck occurred while the tractor trailer was driving in Tennessee. The driver of the tractor trailer slammed into the car on I-75N and flipped, breaking the tank, and it began leaking the diesel fuel.

Fortunately, the driver of the Pontiac was not injured, but the driver of the truck was flown to UT Medical Center, and his condition is unknown according to WBIR.

The leaking tanking was upright and leaking fuel onto the interstate, and some of the diesel ran off into a creek in the ditch just off the road. The remaining fuel was off-loaded as clean-up crews worked on clearing the roads according to the report.

The driver of the tanker was driving a 2007 International Tractor Trailer for Frazier and Mann out of Virginia.

1-75 was closed for several hours on Tuesday, but one lane was opened around 10:30. The Tennessee High Patrol has confirmed that the interstate has been re-opened according to WBIR.

From 2003-2007 there have been six large truck crashes that have involved hazardous material (HazMat) or released hazardous material, and a total of 120 statewide.

Shelby County had the most HazMat crashes in the state during that time with 19, and Davidson County was a close second with 16.

Our sympathy goes out to the driver of the tractor trailer, and we hope that he will make it through this accident. Thankfully the driver of the other car escaped unharmed.

Tennessee Truck Accidents may lessen with more rest stops?

Tennessee tractor trailer wrecks often have driver fatigue as a factor.
