Tennessee Rotator cuff surgery less successful for women?

Tennessee Rotator Cuff SurgeryVictims of Tennessee auto accidents, work injuries, motorcycle wrecks, and other trauma can experience shoulder injuries, including rotator cuff tears.

Rotator cuff tears can be surgically repaired arthroscopically, a much less invasive alternative than the typical “open” procedure. According to the American Journal of Sports Medicine arthroscopic surgery can reduce pain and improve function, but unexplainedly the procedure seems to have poorer results among women.

Knee Surgery from a Tennessee Accident

Tennessee knee injuryPeople who have a Tennessee auto accident, motorcycle accident, or tractor trailer accident may experience a serious knee injury.

ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) surgery is a common, serious procedure for knee injuries that occur in Tennessee due to auto accidents and other trauma.

Research however shows that recovery from ACL injury is more difficult for certain groups. Young people and women seem to be more susceptible to re-injury and additional surgery after having ACL reconstruction according to Orthopedics Today.

The alternative? Young patients and women should be careful during their rehabilitation, and hold off on a return to athletic activities that could cause re-injury.

Tennessee Motorcycle Accidents and Fires – Recall

motorcycle wreck

Tennessee motorcycle wreck

Motorcycle accidents in Tennessee and elsewhere often require hiring a Tennessee motorcycle attorney because there are often serious injuries to the rider, but if there is a fire –  It’s going to be ugly, disabling, mutilating, and perhaps fatal. Obviously the source of fire is from gas, and the most exposed gas tanks in any car accident /motorcycle accident will be the gas tank on the motorcycle.

It makes sense that gas tank that is not secured will potentially rupture during impact, and that a manufacturer would think about that, design for it, and do their best to protect riders. Unfortunately, Harley-Davidson has just announced a recall of over 100,000 bikes manufactured from June 2008 thru November 2009 (click here).

How was the problem discovered? Not by Harley.  It was the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that uncovered the data that brought about this voluntary recall.  The question we should all be asking is “Why didn’t Harley discover this?” and just as important “If they missed something this simple, what else have they missed?”

Comminuted fractures are serious injuries to a bone where the bone is crushed,  splintered, or broken into three or more pieces. Repair of a comminuted surgery may require a combination of pins, plates,  and screws. When our clients have experienced a comminuted fracture, we contact their physician early and closely track their recovery and rehabilitation. We have represented dozens of people with these kinds of injuries and know that early action is critical in order to make a fair settlement.

Motorcycle Driver Killed After Flirting on I-65

motorcycle wreckIt is often said that nothing good happens after 2 a.m.  On Wednesday May 27, 2009, a 45 year old man riding a 2001 Honda motorocycle was on I-65. It was 3 a.m.  He didn’t know it but behind him police had been following a woman in a BMW who was suspected of driving under the influence. For reasons that  can only be explained by excess testosterone or alcohol, or both, the driver of the motorcycle decided to “flirt” with the woman driving the BMW – while they were both presumably driving at interstate speed.  Unfortunately, the attraction was not mutual and the blond in the BMW tried to get off I-65 at the Old Hickory Blvd. exit.  The man on the motorcycle ran off the road at the exit. He was transported to Skyline Medical Center where he died.

As an experienced motorcycle accident attorney we see all kinds of crashes involving motorcycles and cars. This was a senseless and unnecessary death. The rider left behind people who loved him, people who depended on him. Being out on your bike at 3 a.m. is insane.  Park it. Call a cab. Call a friend. Just don’t get on the road.

Ride Safe.
